A town whose had a history of being a sundown town , for those who don't know what sundown towns were / are ...... they are/ were towns where blacks weren't allowed to be in after dark ( hence the name SUNDOWN TOWNS ) Anna , illinois has long been rumoured that ANNA stood for AINT NO N*****S ALLOWED , Anna sits in union county which is still even today sparsely populated with blacks

I know that pittsfield , illinois was a sundown town back in the day . Had an experience their with a friend of mine whose black .... we were passing through pittsfield ( this was in 2015 ) to get some gas & get something to eat & while at a local diner getting a bite we were told in veiled threats to leave town before dark .
